Gas cylinder safety knowledge

1. Gas cylinders should be stored in well-ventilated places, strictly prohibited in precision equipment, cables, refueling systems, inflammables and other nearby or confined space, and should be prevented from sunlight exposure in summer. Cylinders must be fitted with two shock rings and cylinders caps.

2. Gas cylinders should be stored in an upright position and placed in a cylinder rack, cylinder cage or other specified areas, and fixed with ropes, chains and other special fixing facilities or other feasible measures.

3. Do not contact the cylinder with charged objects, and do not stain the cylinder valve with grease.

4. It is strictly forbidden to mix gas cylinders with inflammable and explosive objects.

5. Tighten the cylinder cap before handling. Gas cylinders should be loaded and unloaded lightly. Throwing, rolling and collision are strictly prohibited. Gas cylinders should be moved using handcarts, boards, etc.

6. Do not use gas bottle caps as lifting points or handles.

7. Do not place gas cylinders near the heat source. The storage temperature of gas cylinders should meet the following requirements: Acetylene cylinders should not be higher than 40℃, argon cylinders should not be higher than 50℃, oxygen cylinders should not be higher than 60℃.

8. Gas cylinders must not be used up. Oxygen cylinder residual pressure shall not be less than 0.2mpa. The residual pressure of argon cylinder should not be less than 0.5mpa. The remaining pressure of acetylene cylinder should not be lower than the following: the remaining pressure is 0.1MPa when the ambient temperature is 0℃ to 15℃, 0.2MPa when the ambient temperature is 15℃ to 25℃, and 0.3MPa when the ambient temperature is 25℃ to 40℃.

9. It is strictly forbidden to mix oxygen and acetylene cylinders. During gas welding (cutting) operation, the safe distance between oxygen cylinders and acetylene cylinders should be at least 5 meters, and the safe distance between cylinders and fire points should not be less than 10 meters.

10. Gas cylinder accessories, such as safety helmet, shock-proof ring, pressure gauge, pressure reducing valve, etc., should be fully qualified. Combustible gas cylinders such as dissolved acetylene cylinders should also be equipped with anti-return firearms corresponding to the type of gas, and different types of anti-return firearms should not be mixed.

11. Dissolving acetylene cylinders should not be placed horizontally when in use.

12. Rubber hoses connected to gas cylinders must be securely bound with hoops. Damaged and severely aged rubber hoses must not be used.

13. The gas cylinder system shall be checked for air tightness before gas welding (cutting) operation, and shall not be used when the system is leaking.

14. Cylinders that are out of date or without a manufactured inspection stamp shall not be used.

15. Do not use dangerous means such as rope pulling to transport cylinders to high places, and do not use free tumbling down stairs or chutes to transport cylinders.
